CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The city health office (CHO) has announced Friday that all close contacts of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients with Omicron here have tested negative for the variant. During an online media presser, CHO medical officer Dr. Ted Yu Jr. said they recorded 17 first-generation close contacts of five Omicron variant cases who all work for one local construction company. "They are not positive for Omicron. They are (only) identified as the first generation close contacts for the positive cases of Omicron here," Yu said. The five positive cases were composed of one local case and four non-Cagayan de Oro residents who hailed from Laguna, Batangas, Paranaque, and Ilocos Norte. The CHO said the construction firm hired workers as far as Luzon to work here in the city. Yu said all of the close contacts were isolated, tested, and turned out to be positive for Covid-19 but not with the Omicron strain. However, all of them have since recovered and now negativ ....

During an online briefer, Dr. Ted Yu Jr., medical officer of the City Health Office (CHO), said the cases were four males and three females, three of whom are from Barangay Consolacion and the rest from the villages of Carmen, Kauswagan, Agusan, and Barangay 27. He said two of the positive cases were returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) from the United States, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; one local case; and four non-Cagayan de Oro residents who hailed from Laguna, Batangas, Paranaque, and Ilocos Norte. Yu said the results were late and it was released by the Philippine Genome Center on January 31. He reported that all of the cases of Omicron variant were fully vaccinated, and have recovered. Dr. Ted Yu Jr., medical officer of the city health office (CHO), said in an online briefer Tuesday the additional beds were from various private hospitals, including the JR Borja General Hospital, a public hospital managed by the city government. This is in response to their recent meeting to fight the increasing number of admitted positive cases in the city. Yu said this brought the total of Covid-19 beds in the city to 661 from 520 beds previously and the primary reason why the total bed utilization rate went down to 62.17 percent.
