6月30日，在深圳市宝安区公安、劳动部门的协调下，涉事公司向死者家属支付了一笔赔偿金。次日，余骏的遗体被火化，并被带回老家。
此前的6月10日，包括余骏在内的2019级计算机专业的90多名学生，按照学校的要求，被安排到深圳的工厂实习。据学生们反馈，他们和成年工人一样，每天12个小时的劳动时间（含中间1小时吃饭时间），车间体力劳动，让一些学生难以忍受。尤其是上夜班的学生，经常被车间拉长记录“上班时打瞌睡”。
违反纪律被记录的学生，由拉长汇报给老师，再由老师在班级群中通报批评。6月19日，老师通报，两名学生因身体原因被遣返回十堰，另一名学生因两次旷工、屡教不改、态度恶劣，被开除学籍，送回十堰，“不再为我校学生”。这些通报是纪律管理的一部分。
