Host and this week on the communicators we welcome back the president and ceo of the American Cable Association, matt polka. Mr. Polka, what is the American Cable Association . Guest thanks, peter. Nice to be here again. Nice to be here with you, lynn, as well. The American Cable Association is unique in the fact that we represent many smaller Cable Operators across the country, and everyone always asks me, are there still small Cable Operators left . In fact, there are nearly 900 of them in every corner you can imagine, rural areas, small towns. Many of them are providing Competitive Services even against some of the largest providers today. And whats great about these smaller companies, its a terrific story because theyre providing broadband, highspeed broadband in rural areas that desperately need Broadband Service. So these are the members we represent. Theyre smaller, theyre independent which means that theyre not affiliated with larger content companies or larger providers, and w
How to get it assigned to me. I was the longestserving junior justice in history almost. I could get it assigned to me. Here is how. It breaks down forfour. How do i get it to me, which i certainly did not want. I said, i am not sure. They have to assign it to me. That will determine the outcome. I better be more certain than that. Nonetheless, he has to try to get the court, do it by the numbers, and that he has some discretion. Then we sit down, we write, i get my law clerk to write a long draft or memo, and then i will go read it. I will sit down and then write my draft. I often say, i know you think yours was better. In give mell go another draft, and i will probably do another draft. I was a law professor. I am picky. Then we go back and forth and get a draft and circulate it. I hope i pick up before you are more votes. If i do that, it is the opinion of the court. I am always willing to change, even when i have the majority. When i have the majority signed up, i am a little less
Is in baltimore. Jeff tell me first, what stood out to you in this speech . One of the things that stood out to me was really how governor omalley tried to build a bridge with between whats happening on main street and whats happening on wall street. He addressed headon the challenges of baltimore. He said there are economic chalt engs that have caused the violence caused the protest. So he dr. Drew a link a correlation between what is happening in this city and whats happening across the country. And then he drew a link and said that ceo of Goldman Sachs, the big Investment Firm would be happy with a president bush or a president clinton. Hes trying to present himself as a new, progressive leader that stuck out to me how hes trying to compare and draw a correlation between all of these economic problems. Did you, jeff did you get a sense of confidence from him . Its very loud at this raly. And things behind me. I didnt hear what you said but a few protesters interrupted the raly. But
Orders to try to capture this man. But apparently a firefight broke out. Handtohand combat he resisted. He was killed in the firefight along with other isis fighters there. His wife captured and taken back to iraq. The big question why this guy, why was it worth risking so much u. S. Military lives to go after him . What we are being told is he was an isis leader if you will in their oil and gas operations. So thats very key. Because of the Financial Impact the financial benefit to isis. But perhaps more serious even there had been a sense by the u. S. That he was increasingly involved in isis command and control. And isis operations. And u. S. Officials are beginning to indicate there may have been a reason to believe he might have been in contact at some point with abu bakr albaghdadi, the very reclusive leader of isis. The guy the u. S. Of course wants to get. All right. Lets talk more about this Senior International correspondent Nick Paton Walsh is with us from beirut. Nick you ha
