NECO releases results, 233,000 candidates to retake missed subjects

Punch Newspapers Sections Friday Olokor, Abuja THE National Examination Council on Wednesday announced the release of the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination (internal) results. But a total of 233,000 candidates, who were prevented from taking the NECO examination in some states due to the #EndSARS protests, would be accommodated in the external examination scheduled for between Monday February 1 and Wednesday March 3 2021. The states affected by the protest are Abia, Enugu, Edo, River, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Lagos, Oyo, Kano, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. A comparative analysis of results released by NECO for two years showed that a total of 829,787 candidates, representing 71.59 per cent scored a total of five credits, including English and Mathematics in year 2019, as against year 2020 where 894,101 candidates, representing 73.89 per cent scored five credits, including Mathematics and English.

233,000 candidates missed NECO exams due to #EndSARS protests On By Joseph Erunke A total of 233,000 candidates failed to write the 2020 National Examinations Council, NECO, Senior Schools’ Certificate Examination due to the #EndSARS protests that rocked the country last year. The examination body declared this, Wednesday, during a media briefing in Minna, where it release the 2020 SSCE internal results. Giving a breakdown of the results,  Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of NECO Prof. Godswill Obioma, on Wednesday, said a total of 1,221,447,665,830 males and 555,617 female candidates,  registered for the examination, nationwide. While candidates that actually sat for the examination were 1,209,992,659,796 males representing 54.53% and 550,126 females representing 45.46% candidates respectively.

NECO Releases SSCE Results, Over 73% Pass Maths And English

Channels Television   Updated January 13, 2021   The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results with over 73 per cent of candidates passing Mathematics and English Language. The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of NECO Prof. Godswill Obioma announced the results on Wednesday at the examination body’s national headquarters in Niger State. The results show that 894,101 candidates, representing 73.89% scored five credits and above in both English and Mathematics. 973,331 candidates, representing 82.68 percent made credit and above in the English language alone. The results further reveal that the number of candidates who made five credits and above irrespective of English language and Mathematics is 1,112,041, representing 91.91 percent.
