Alton Batallion Fire Chief Matthew Fischer, in yellow, is pulled to safety from the ice cold waters of the pond at the Olin T. Spencer Golf Course where Alton firefighters have been practicing ice training. Firefighters took advantage of the frigid weather to do the training not possible in recent years due to mild winters.
