We have watched police comb over this yacht called the bella and they say the mast snapped off during a regatta earlier this evening and killed a sailor on board. The bella was out at 6 45 and got too close to a channel marker and one of the guide wires caught on the marker. The u. S. Coast guard said the mast broke off and crashed down on top of the cree. There were five sailors killing one and injuring two others. A small boat was nearby and rescued the crew. Yacht club members say this was a casual weekly regatta they hold every wednesday. It is all for fun and the competition is very light.
