近年来，《乡村教师支持计划（2015~2020年）》等一系列政策相继出台，乡村教师的育人环境得到大幅改善。此外，6月1日起正式实施的《中华人民共和国乡村振兴促进法》在第三章“人才支撑”中重点强调了乡村教师群体。
在小康社会全面建成、乡村振兴稳步推进的今天，我国乡村教师群体的工作与生活状况如何？他们在乡村振兴中承担了怎样的角色，今后如何更好发挥作用？东北师范大学中国农村教育发展研究院对广西、贵州、山西等五省份10区县乡村教师展开了问卷调查；同时，光明日报记者对广西、湖南、河北等地部分乡村教师进行了深度采访，形成本报告。报告从助力乡村振兴的高度就乡村教师现状、诉求与未来发展进行梳理，并提出了提升该群体队伍水平、发挥其积极作用的对策建议。
