Jamshedpur: Tata Sons chairman emeritus Ratan Tata and chairperson N Chandrasekaran arrived in Jamshedpur on Tuesday, a day before the Steel City celebrates its Founder’s Day on the 182nd birth anniversary of the visionary industrialist Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the founder of Tata Steel and the town on March 3. Due to the Covid guidelines, the decoration and celebrations have been low key compared to previous years and entry of people to the park is barred.
Tata and Chandrasekaran inaugurated the lighting at the iconic Jubilee Park later in the evening. The park and the city’s heritage buildings, prominent landscapes and roundabouts have been decorated with colourful lights by Tata Steel and Jusco, the principal organisers of the celebrations. Tata also inaugurated the new residential building for the cadets at the Naval Tata Hockey Academy in Telco. Top officials of Tata Steel, including CEO and MD T V Narendran, accompanied him.
