A total of 570 beds have been given to Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in Hubballi by various companies and a foundation under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi and Minister for Large and Medium Industries Jagadish Shettar formally handed over the beds to KIMS authorities on Sunday. Under CSR initiative, Swarna Group of Companies, Tata Hitachi, Tata Marcopolo and Deshpande Foundation have donated 570 beds.
Mr. Pralhad Joshi said that the make-shift hospital planned on KIMS premises for COVID-19 patients was being built by Vedanta Group and the 100-bed air-conditioned hospital with 20 ventilators and 10 ICU beds and 70 oxygen beds will be ready in the next 10 days. ....

190 AC buses to be brought under KSRTC-SWIFT
The six-year-old Kerala Urban Road Transport Corporation (KURTC) will be revived and given a new lease of life soon, simultaneous with the formation of KSRTC-SWIFT, a legally independent company for operating long-distance buses. This will bring about optimal utility of KURTC’s fleet of 340 low-floor non-AC buses on city routes.
“Most of these non-AC services were idling due to their low fuel efficiency and higher operation and maintenance expense as compared to regular buses operated by KSRTC, KURTC’s parent organisation,” said Biju Prabhakar, Chairman and Managing Director of KSRTC. ....

Indian automobile major Tata Motors Ltd on Thursday said it would buy the 49 per cent stakes of Marcopolo S.A. in the bus and coach making joint venture Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd for Rs 99.96 crore (Dh 49.6 million).
In a regulatory filing, Tata Motors said that as a consequence of its refreshed business strategy, Marcopolo S.A has decided to exit from the joint venture and offered to sell its 49 per cent shareholding in Rs 170 crore (Dh84.3 million) capital Tata Marcopolo to it. ....

Chennai, Dec 17 : Indian automobile major Tata Motors Ltd on Thursday said it would buy the 49 per cent stakes of Marcopolo S.A. in the bus and coach making joint venture Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd for Rs 99.96 crore.

Indian automobile major Tata Motors Ltd on Thursday said it would buy the 49 per cent stakes of Marcopolo S.A. in the bus and coach making joint venture Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd for Rs 99.96 crore.
In a regulatory Tata Motors said as a consequence of its refreshed business strategy, Marcopolo S.A has decided to exit from the joint venture and offered to sell its 49 per cent shareholding in Rs 170 crore capital Tata Marcopolo to it.
According to Tata Motors, the two companies have entered into a share purchase agreement whereby the former will purchase the balance 49 per cent shareholding in the Rs 650.55 crore Tata Marcopolo for a cash consideration of Rs 99.96 crore. ....
