Around 5:45 pm on Wednesday, January 26th, Galesburg Police conducted a traffic stop on a sedan with an expired registration in the 900 block of East Knox Street. As an officer approached the vehicle, 19-year old Bostyn Newcomer exited the passenger side of the car and began yelling at officers as to why the sedan was stopped. Police have had numerous encounters with Newcomer. Newcomer continually interrupted officers as they spoke with the female driver and attempted to identify a second female passenger. According to police reports, statements made by Newcomer gave officers probable cause to search the vehicle. Newcomer admitted to having a baggie of cannabis and a baggie of methamphetamine on him and he was taken into custody. Police were eventually able to identify the backseat passenger as 35-year old Tashia Harris of Galesburg. It was discovered that Harris had active warrants in Knox and Warren Counties as she was taken into custody. Ultimately, Newcomer was charged with Unlawfu
