Amanda Heyes, a participant of the Tartu startup scene and a marketing specialist, claims the town of Tartu is a better place for startups than the Estonian capital, Tallinn, providing several reasons to back up her claim.
It is no secret that Estonia is a startup goliath – per capita, it’s Europe’s leader, with 4.6 times more startups than the continental average; seven unicorns – companies valued at least USD1 billion – are associated with Estonia, either founded in the country or founded by Estonians abroad.

TALLINN - In order for Estonia s hydrogen economy to start growing, a strategy needs to be drawn up and the relevant interested parties need to mobilize and form a cluster, according to Annely Akkerman, chair of the group in the parliament formed in support of hydrogen technologies.
Many states already have them. Estonia, too, needs to get on this train that s already on the move, Akkermann said.
A strategy for renewable energy and hydrogen technology is also needed for meeting Estonia s long-term climate objectives, according to Enn Lust, chemist and a professor of physical chemistry at the University of Tartu. The strategy should map out the roles of the state, research institutions, entrepreneurs and local governments in the introduction of hydrogen technologies as well as establish deadlines and estimate the need and sources for funding. Flying Forward 2020, a consortium made up of 30 partners, is about to start developing a new urban air mobility (UAM) ecosystem for the European Union, focusing primarily on drones, informs LETA/BNS.
The project is consistent with the strategy for the digitalization of governments of EU member states and aims to make planning of the air mobility of cities a part of the spatial planning infrastructure of cities, Tartu Science Park, which takes part in the project, said in a press release. ....
