DG: Prepare for more spikes


Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor dominated with 1,428 new cases.
The sharp rise in the number of cases is largely attributed to the Seruling cluster in Selangor, which recorded 842 new cases in just a day.
“Cases in Selangor are expected to remain high following the expansion of the foreign workers screening programme by Socso (Social Security Organisation).
“Employers in Klang Valley are also taking proactive measures to screen their workers, ” he said.
Meanwhile, the ministry is rigorously conducting active case detection and contact tracing activities in the state, he said.
“Those found positive for Covid-19 have been isolated at the Sungai Buloh Hospital and the MAEPS 2.0 Covid-19 low risk quarantine and treatment centre, ” he said. ....

Covid-19 (Dec 10): Record 2,234 new cases in a day, 70pct in Klang Valley alone

Covid-19 | A record-setting 2,234 new Covid-19 cases have been reported by the Health Ministry today, of which 70 percent were in the Klang Valley region alone. 
The last record (2,188) was set on Nov 24. 
According to the Selangor Health Department, the massive spike in Selangor was due to new cases detected from the Seruling cluster involving workplace testing.
The new cases mainly involved the Kapar and Klang locality but has spread across various districts in the state.
There was also a large spike in the Hentian cluster, an existing cluster which emerged from the Kajang bus station.  ....

Covid-19: More clusters linked to construction sites detected, says Health DG


PUTRAJAYA: More infection clusters related to construction sites have been detected by the Health Ministry, as the government widens its Covid-19 screening of workplaces.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced five new clusters on Thursday (Dec 10), of which three are linked to construction sites in the Klang Valley.
He said the Tapak Bina Jalan Bukit cluster in Hulu Langat, Selangor, was first discovered after an individual working at a construction site developed symptoms.
“The individual tested positive for Covid-19 on Dec 2. Following that, the employer conducted a targeted screening at the workplace and 46 more positive cases were detected, ” said Dr Noor Hisham in the ministry’s daily Covid-19 updates. ....
