Rākei Ora was funded through the Government’s $230 million Provincial Growth Fund: Covid-19 response – redeployment and acceleration’ fund, in May last year.
Administered by the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment, the fund included a grant of up to $70 million for the renovation of town halls, war memorials, marae and Pasifika churches.
The council on behalf of Te Taiwhenua o Tamatea applied to the fund, with council providing ongoing support for the delivery of the project. ....
