The centralised kitchen system for mid-day meals started in all the 370 government schools of four blocks, Sadar, Jhinkpani, Khuntpani and Tantnagar of West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand in January and April 2023. However, students from these four blocks are unhappy with the meals they receive from the centralised kitchen run by the Annamrita Foundation, formerly known as ISKCON Food Relief Foundation.
The survey reported instances of children throwing the food away or leaving large portions untouched on their plates. An activist said schoolchildren had described the food as 'tasteless'
