MACOMB Due to expected poor weather conditions, the Illinois Department of Public Health has cancelled today s coronavirus testing at Tanner Hall Circle on the Western Illinois University campus.
The McDonough County Health Department has announced eight new positive coronavirus cases since Monday, involving four women and four men. Their ages are listed as two children under 10, two people in their teens, one person in the 20s, two people in their 40s, and one person in the 60s.
These new cases bring the county s confirmed case total to 2,268, with 32 cases still active, 2,186 people recovered, and 50 deaths. Total cases involve 1,203 women and 1,065 men. The largest age group impacted is 658 people in their 20s. ....

Mayor discusses covid-19 strategies

MACOMB Mayor Mike Inman discussed Friday a three-legged stool of community strategies for coping with the coronavirus pandemic. He said they are mitigation, testing, and vaccination.
Inman spoke from Macomb City Hall and his comments have been posted to the Macomb You-Tube channel.
The mayor said McDonough County has a less than three percent COVID-19 positivity rate and that the regional rate is around five percent. He said three days at 6.5 percent or less is the Restore Illinois Phase 4 standard.
Inman announced Illinois Department of Public Health COVID-19 testing dates in Macomb. All will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tanner Hall Circle on the campus of Western Illinois University. Testing will be done on February 4, 8, 15, and 17. ....
