Rowe is on the witness list and down to give evidence later in the trial, but the court heard from Dr Joshua Smith​ on Tuesday.
Smith said he treated Rowe at Palmerston North Hospital on the night of September 12, 2019 – the night the Crown says Wilkinson was murdered.
He went immediately to Rowe instead of waiting for a nurse, as it was clear Rowe was badly hurt.
He had blood on his head and clothes, which likely came from a 10cm cut on his head, Smith said.
The skull could be seen through the head cut and clotted blood, while he also had a cut finger, and sore neck and leg. ....
