TAMPIN: A 30-year-old cement truck driver was charged at the Magistrate s Court here with the murder of his four-year-old stepdaughter. No plea was recorded from Abu Hassan Darus after the charge was read to him before magistrate Tan Chai Wei. The accused was charged with murdering Ummi Yusnani Sofea Herwan Norhadi between 3pm and 5pm at a house in Kg Halacara Baru Londah in Gemas on Feb 1. Tan then fixed March 25 for remention pending the post-mortem and chemical reports. The accused, who was unrepresented, was denied bail. Ahmad Sazali Omar and Ummi Amyra Natasha Azhar prosecuted. Police had initially received a doctor’s report on the victim s death on Feb 1 from the Gemas health clinic. ....
