Zurenah Smit is accused of the murder of her husband, Stellenbosch farmer Stefan Smit, who was killed in their home nearly two years ago.
She denies being behind her husband s killing.
She and one of her co-accused applied for legal aid on Friday.

Smit and Derek Sait, who up until now have made use of private attorneys, are out on bail of R10 000 for the murder charge and R5 000 related to guns stolen from Smit s safe.
