The much-anticipated rollout of the Hays County COVID-19 vaccine is set to begin soon, though County officials caution the pace will be slow at first. The Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) is awaiting a shipment of 1,950 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. ....

Hays County urges patience as more coronavirus vaccine doses trickle in


Hays County public health officials are asking for more patience as residents anxiously await the availability of the coronavirus vaccine.
Vaccines became available in December but have been limited to the most vulnerable populations, including health care workers, people 65 and older, those with chronic medical conditions that put them at high risk for severe symptoms, and communities of color that are disproportionately affected by COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Hays County, like many smaller Texas counties surrounding metropolitan hubs, is seeing a slow rollout of vaccines. Local officials remain positive and optimistic that everyone who needs a dose will get one, but the process has become frustrating for many. ....
