Human Rights Watch The United States Senate should pass the Protecting the Right to Organize Act (PRO Act), five human rights and labor groups said today in releasing a question-and-answer document about the issue. The Senate should seize on a once-in-a-generation opportunity to tackle rampant economic inequality by empowering workers and building a more just and human rights-based economy. The 16-page document, “Why the PRO Act Matters for the Right to Unionize in the United States” examines how the PRO Act would bring the US closer to meeting its obligations under international law by eliminating many of the barriers that prevent workers from exercising their rights to organize a union. Protecting these rights is critical to reducing economic inequality, as it allows workers to bargain collectively for fair wages, adequate benefits, and safe working conditions, reducing power imbalances between workers and employers. Them into this mess. because the government pays for everything. the cost of college is not just a number that comes out of thin air they know they can keep increasing the cost because the government saws they will keep paying for it. if the government said we are not going to make up the difference no matter what you add to your costs, the costs would start to stop or they would start to go down. progressives say government should spend more. there is no evidence that college loans or any type of student aid increases tuition at public universities. if you give people money tuition goes up. it doesn t, tall lie. tamara draut works for the think tank. if you look at what has happened after there s a recession prices have fallen? state funding has been steadily and aggressively cut. it has gone up from 55 billion to almost $80 billion. up isn t a cut. it has gone up in absolute terms because there are a lot more students that is being ....
It s just fantastic. the momentum is growing. in the last two weeks, we ve had thousands of students, two times in a row, walk out and protest in solidarity with wall street. this completely resonates with us. we are strapped with mounting student debt and lack of opportunities after college, and that s why we are the 99%. yeah, and if you look, tamara, the marketing of the the fearmongering of pursuit of prestige for infinite debt is a very good way to exploit an 18-year-old, wouldn t you say? well, you know, dylan, this is, it s a real tragedy. what we have is this debt for diploma system that, you know, was, i found disturbing, even when we had a good economy, but now that the economy is in the toilet and we have a whole bunch of college grads with $24,000 in student loan debt, who can t get a job, the debt for diploma system is a disaster. and, you know, an important thing here is that, you know, it used to be, you didn t have to ....
