The critically acclaimed production received its world premiere in April 2018 in London and subsequently broke all Box Office records at the Aldwych Theatre. New HBO documentary Tina, which profiles the extraordinary life of Tina Turner will screen express from the US in late March. This is directed by Dan Lindsay and T.J. Martin, and described as a revealing and intimate look at her life, from her rise to early fame, her personal and professional struggles throughout her life and resurgence as a global superstar in the 1980s. Notably it also has interviews with Tina herself, conducted in Zurich and with those closest to her. It also features a wealth of never-before-seen footage, audio tapes and personal photos. In the autumn of 1981, struggling to gain meaningful momentum in her career, Tina Turner sat for an interview with Carl Arrington, the music editor of People Magazine. Five years earlier, she had filed for divorce from Ike Turner, her husband and musical partner for over 16 years. All gender identities and expressions are welcome. This year s event, held in the wake of the one-year anniversary of the Broadway shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, is themed Reflecting Courageously, Transforming Collectively. The two-hour program will feature two sessions: Broadway s Moms: How Life Goes on When the Show Doesn’t” and “Broadway’s Second Act: A Conversation about Moving Beyond Intention.” On March 10, 2020, we held our third annual Women s Day on Broadway event, welcoming Secretary Hillary Rodman Clinton as our keynote speaker, along with many amazing women from within the theater community.
