Govt believes in supremacy of law, says Buzdar Lahore May 10, 2021 LAHORE:Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the PTI government believes in the supremacy of law. In a statement issued here on Sunday, the chief minister said that no one was above the law. The rule of law would be ensured in the province at any cost. The government would not let anyone take the law into their hands as no compromise would be made on the rule of law. The government has not targeted anyone for political victimisation nor has it any such plans. Usman Buzdar said that the government did not believe in revenge but accountability, transparency and merit. He asserted that the PTI government would continued to take indiscriminate action against the corrupt at every level. He regretted that free hand was given to the mafias in the past. Former governments promoted the culture of nepotism in the name of merit. The incumbent government was giving priority to merit and justice in discharging it

Veteran actress Talat Siddiqui laid to rest in Lahore Top Story May 10, 2021 LAHORE: Former veteran actress Talat Siddiqui, who passed away at the age of 82 years after protracted illness in Lahore late Saturday night, was laid to rest. Talat Siddiqui became a household name through her work on radio before she moved towards the cinema. Known for hits Dilnasheen, Kaliya and Haider Sultan, the veteran actor had bid adieu to the film industry 30 years ago. She was the mother of actor Arifa Siddiqui and aunt of singer Fariha Pervez. Meanwhile, wife of renowned folk singer Arif Lohar has passed away. She caught fever and was admitted to a private hospital in Lahore. She was shifted to ventilator due to deteriorated health condition but she breathed her last.

She was the mother of actor Arifa Siddiqui and veteran dancer Nahid Siddiqui, and an aunt of noted singer Fariha Pervaiz. She was laid to rest on Sunday in a graveyard near her residence near Canal View Society. She was considered one of the most renowned actresses of the country. Most popular among her films were hits such as Dilnasheen, Kaliya and Haider Sultan. She had bid the industry goodbye around three decades ago. Talat Siddiqui was a gifted character actor who ruled the silver screen in the 1960s when such actors won equal, and sometimes more, praise as the leading stars. Besides her, the legendary Talish is another example of such a character actor.
