Doha: Marc-Antoine Olivier (FRA) and Ana Marcela Cunha (BRA) posted exciting wins in the season-opening 10km FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 2021 Doha (QAT) held at Katara Beach yesterday.   
Olympic bronze medallist Olivier took 1:52:02.4 to bag his second consecutive title in the Qatari capital, while five-time World Champion Cunha edged Océane Cassignol (FRA) in a photo finish, clocking 2:01:30.3 to regain her Doha title after the 2019 triumph. 
In the men’s race – the final event of the day starting at 2pm - 2019 FINA World Championships gold medallist (5km) Kristof Rasovszky (HUN) was ahead in the first two laps before Olivier picked pace to set up the victory.  ....

Doha: Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) will host long-distance swimmers, who will compete over 10km course in the FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 2021 Doha (QAT) to be staged at the stunning Katara Beach on March 13.
A total of 99 swimmers – 66 male and 33 female athletes – along with 65 team officials from 27 countries will participate in the season-opening meet. 
France will send the biggest contingent to the Qatari capital, including 20 swimmers and 11 officials. Italy will have 13 athletes in both the races along with five officials.    
QSA under the guidance of Ministry of Public Health will organize the event by following strict COVID-19 protocols to ensure health and safety of athletes, officials and all other stakeholders. The athletes will remain in bio-secure zones throughout the event.         ....
