The 2021 Martin Luther King Jr. Virtual CommUnity Celebration is called “You Belong Here, All Are Welcome Here.” There is a theme for each year’s celebration and this year’s piggybacks off the YouBelongHereKV community group that started last year. That group started after hateful signs were found in Kirksville, and then raised money to buy diverse books for schools. “This is such a time where unity is so important,” said Bertha Thomas, the leader of the Martin Luther King Jr. Citywide Committee. “The nation, the country and our community are so in need of thinking about positive things and feelings that this seems perfect to do.” ....
