“主流判断有两种，一是月氏原居住地在今天甘肃河西走廊一带，另一说法是在新疆哈密地区。我们如同当年的张骞一样，要走进中亚去找寻月氏西迁后的文化遗存，就是希望能找到与国内共性强、面貌特征一致的月氏文化遗存，从而采用考古学互证的方法，来确定月氏的原居住地。走进中亚，成为我们解决国内考古问题的必然选择。”梁云说。
2015年9月，经过系统调查，走出去的第一步，梁云把目标锁定在了乌兹别克斯坦境内距离撒马尔罕市西南20公里、西天山北面的撒扎干地区。“据史料记载，张骞曾到访此地，大月氏西迁也许会经过这里，有可能会留下一些东西！”
于是，梁云和西北大学中亚考古队的队员们在西天山山前的一处村� ....
