After a year which saw many much-anticipated events and races cancelled, the members of Taghmon Athletics Club (TAC) met to celebrate the positives of 2020.
One of the big positives for everyone at TAC were the performances of James Hanlon. Named Athlete of the Year for 2020, James came third in the National Junior Championships 5,000m walk in September and won the Leinster U-19 1,500m walk in February.
Described as a quiet young man by those within the club, James is expected to go from strength to strength in 2021.
Aisling Kelly received the May Buttimer/Paddy Greene Perpetual Trophy after being selected for the Irish u20 4x100m relay team. This capped off a successful year for Aisling after she had won both the 60m and 200m events at the Leinster U-18 Indoor Championships and the same two events in the junior category. She was also fourth in the 100m National Junior event.
