Moderate showers are likely today over South Coastal and interior parts of Tamil Nadu today. Coastline from Karaikal to Kanyakumari and inland stations, right up to Kerala border will receive moderate intermittent spell in the next 24 hours.
After 24 hours, the system has the possibility of resulting in some heavy showers over south coastal parts of Tamil Nadu including Karaikal, Puducherry, Tuticorin, Tondi etc. Other parts will see light to moderate showers.
There is persistent vertical wind shear which along with dry air intrusion is eroding the circulation pattern. However, low level features still remain intact resulting circular shape cloud cluster around the centre of storm.
Under the influence of this system, all 5 sub divisions of northeast monsoon namely, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala will experience wet spell between 18th and 23rd Dec.
