Now entering its thirteenth year, Syria’s conflict has taken a massive toll on every single Syrian, but in particular women and girls. Even before the recent earthquakes, the needs inside Syria were staggering. In 2023, around 15.3 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. Around half are women and girls, including 4.2 million women of reproductive age. The country also has the largest number of internally displaced people in the world at 6.8 million people. The same number have fled the country seeking refuge in Türkiye, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt.
