Lino A. Rauzi

Lino A. Rauzi, 88, passed away November 8, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, MN. He was one of seven children born to Joe and Paulina Rauzi on January 22, 1934, in Melrose Park, Illinois. He attended high school and Junior College in Eveleth, MN, where he excelled in football. He was drafted into the Army in 1953, serving two years in Korea. He was then drafted into the Navy Air Force. When discharged, he attended UMD, majoring in physical and elementary education. He played football for Jim Malosky and was one of his first captains. In his senior year, he was selected “outstanding athlete of the year”. Lino married Nancy Peterson in 1960 and moved to Silver Bay where he taught school for 33 years. He helped coach football and basketball and was instrumental in starting the hockey program. Teaching and coaching kids was his passion, and he poured himself out for them.
