Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi’s plea in the Supreme Court for removal of the 26 verses from the Quran has triggered a massive row.
Recently, Rizvi had approached the SC with a petition seeking deletion of 26 verses of the Quran which he has claimed are of violent nature and not part of the original Quran but added after the death of Prophet Mohammad .
While addressing media at Bihar State Legislature on Tuesday, Shahnawaz described the act of filing a case for removal of verses from the Quran as the one of stooping low and added that such acts can never be tolerated for those who may tarnish the social fabric. He further criticised the utterances of Rizvi on the Khalifa and rubbished them as ‘ochchi bayanbazi’ (mean statements).
Lashing out at Rizvi, he asserted: “Who is he to issue such statements? No religious scripture can be treated that way in India. His statements are absolutely unacceptable. Such statements are always contrary to BJP’s core values.”

Two brothers were gunned down on the FTC Flyover on Monday morning reportedly in an attack motivated by personal enmity.
According to South SSP Zubair Nazeer Shaikh, the brothers, identified as Syed Abid Hussain Shah, 50, and Syed Sajid Hussain Shah, 52, were on a motorcycle and were returning from a hearing at the Karachi city court when they were attacked.
The brothers were shot dead by unidentified assailants, who were also on a motorcycle when they opened fire at the deceased. Both the brothers died on the spot and their bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
