Switzerland's consumer price inflation eased unexpectedly in January to the lowest level in more than two years, the Federal Statistical Office reported Tuesday.
After a flat start and a subsequent fall to lower levels, the Switzerland market recovered on Monday, and despite staying a bit sluggish till around mid afternoon, managed to end the day's session on a firm note.
The Switzerland stock market ended on a firm note on Monday after staying positive right through the day's session thanks to sustained buying at several counters after data showed an unexpected drop in inflation in the month of November.
The Swiss National Bank will review whether the policy measures take thus far were enough to keep inflation within the target range on a sustainable basis and stands ready to tighten policy further if needed, SNB Chairman Thomas Jordan said Tuesday.
