New Bedford art: Artist and multimedia mastermind to share unique work

NEW BEDFORD New Bedford is about to become the centerpiece of a unique art piece on Thursday. Locals are invited to observe this creative installation unveiled live.
Bronx-based multimedia artist Art Jones is already exploring the area as he collects visual and sounds to be featured in his upcoming new exhibit. Presented by UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts, this collaboration between 3rd EyE Youth Empowerment is sure to be an experience like no other.
“I m overjoyed at the opportunity to work with 3rd EyE on the upcoming live audiovisual mix,” said Jones in a press release from the gallery director. “It s been a while since I ve been able to collaborate on a performance in-person, and I m looking forward to us creating a piece that is unique to New Bedford.” ....

Unique Sight in Downtown New Bedford Last Night
I had to check the date on my phone last night as I was parking my car in downtown New Bedford to go into Greasy Luck for dinner. Normally, AHA night is the second Thursday of the month, but there were people sitting on folding chairs on the corner of Union and Purchase Streets. People were gathering – six feet apart – on the sidewalk enjoying some open mic poetry last night.
I have to say, it was a unique sight. As I ve said countless times before, if nothing else, this pandemic has forced innovation. What I saw was simple, but it was unlike anything I ve seen before. Inside the Swain Studio space, protected by the glass windows, there were poets offering readings and spoken word performances. ....
