Salto taps Red Bee for content management services

As the service attempts to ramp up after launch in October 2020, French SVOD platform Salto has called on global media services company Red Bee Media to deliver digital asset management (DAM), post-production for promotional material and quality check of assets being added to the platform.
Salto combines catch-up TV and streaming content into one service and with over 15,000 hours of content, it offers programming in a variety of genres, both from Salto’s three stakeholders - broadcast providers, TF1, France Télévisions and M6 - and from other content owners.
Red Bee was contracted to deliver a content management solution that could both manage ingestion from legacy media management platforms, as well as digital asset management and metadata enrichment. Through a benchmarking study, Red Bee implemented a solution combining the company’s own cloud-based Media Gateway and a fit for purpose DAM-system from middleware providerPerfect Memo ....

Latin America to add 63 million SVOD subscriptions over five years

Days after warning in that the region’s poorly-performing economies have hit its pay-TV arena hard, Digital TV Research is predicting that the Latin America market will have 116 million subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) customers by 2026, up from 53 million recorded at the end of 2020.
In its Latin America OTT TV and Video Forecasts report, Digital TV Research expects that the Latin America region will witness a wave of major SVOD platform launches during 2021. Paramount+ has just launched and this will be followed by HBO Max and Star+ in June. Discovery+ is also expected expand in the region.
Examining where the market will likely take off, th study forecast that Brazil will contribute 44 million to the 2026 total, followed by Mexico with 29 million. ....

Over two-thirds of British viewers prefer streaming to broadcast TV

A study from independent omnichannel sell-side advertising platform Magnite, has found that half (51%) of UK viewers’ time spent watching TV takes place on streaming channels, and if they could only keep one, over half (55%) would choose streaming services versus broadcast linear TV (45%).
Magnite’s CTV: The Future Forward examined the opinion of 10,500 consumers across the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, looking at how audiences are consuming TV and examining the opportunity for marketers seeking to connect with engaged audiences as the shift to connected TV (CTV) accelerates and consumer behaviour evolve.
The fundamental trend was that there was increasing adoption for CTV services especially in the UK which leads in terms of CTV adoption in the five EU5, according to the report.
