81-Year-Old Grandma Jumps Off Ocean Beach Pier For Charity

Susan Norman, 89, took a big leap on Monday, July 12.
At the event, swimmers jump into the water to fundraise money for junior lifeguard scholarships and free swimming lessons for the community s underserved youth.
Norman was one of the featured swimmers this year. She was also the first octogenarian to rise to the challenge, according to the foundation.
“I like to do things like this,” Norman told
FOX5. “I mean, I like it, but it makes me somewhat nervous to know if I could do it because I haven’t done anything like this in so many years.”
Norman has raced in triathlons in the past and even won an Ironman race. ....

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) For two days out of the entire year, people are allowed to jump off the Ocean Beach Pier as part of a fundraiser to help children learn to swim. Monday afternoon, an 81-year-old Mission Beach grandmother faced her fears and jumped off the iconic pier.
