The secret service says an agent shot an armed man outside the executive mansion after he refused to drop his weapon. The president was not at the white house at the time, but the Vice President was. Chip reid has the latest. Get back over that way lets any reporter the incident set off a flurry of activity by secret Service Officers and agents with guns drawn, even on the white house roof. The grounds and nearby streets were locked down for more than an hour. The shooting happened outside a secret Service Checkpoint on the southwest side of the white house compound.
