A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family of U.S. Capitol Police officer and South River native Brian Sicknick, who died Thursday from injuries suffered in the Washington, D.C., riot and in his honor, Gov. Phil Murphy ordered all flags lowered to half-staff on Monday. Sicknick, 42, who served in the New Jersey Air National Guard, was one of five people to die in Wednesday s attack on the U.S. Capitol building. The U.S. Capitol Police officer who died Thursday in the Washington, D.C., riot was a South River native who served in the New Jersey Air National Guard and found his own political voice by writing letters to his local newspaper. Brian D. Sicknick s death left his family devastated and the community wounded, South River Mayor John Krenzel said. “The family has requested privacy at this time and said Brian did his job,” Krenzel said, ordering municipal flags at half-staff.
