After unanimously passing the design, site plan and budget for the new Flagler County Sheriff’s Operations Center during Monday s county commission meeting, officials will host a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday.
The new facility, which is estimated to cost the county just over $20 million dollars, will be located on 8.41 acres near the government services complex on Commerce Drive off of State Road 100 by Wendy’s.
“The swiftness at which this project is moving is due to the effectiveness and dedication of our team, including staff, the sheriff’s office, the architect, the construction contractor and the clerk of courts,” said Donald O’Brien, commission chair, in a press release. “We have a dysfunctional situation with the sheriff’s office spread out throughout the county, and we need to complete this project as quickly as possible.”
