COVID-19: Odisha to conduct 3-month door-to-door survey from May 24 ANI | Updated: May 17, 2021 21:12 IST Bhubneshwar (Odisha) [India], May 17 (ANI): Amid the second wave of the COVID-19, the Odisha government will launch a three-month house-to-house survey for COVID symptoms and comorbid conditions by ASHAs and AWWs. The survey will commence on May 24. Attending the all-party meeting called by the Odisha Assembly speaker Surya Narayan Patro, Cheif Minister Naveen Patnaik said, To strengthen the oxygen management and to prepare a master plan for the state, I am announcing a task force that will look at immediate needs as well as holistic planning for future exigencies.

The assembly building illuminated on the eve of Utkal Divas in Bhubaneswar BHUBANESWAR: Amid rising cases of Covid-19, Odisha is all set to celebrate 85th statehood day, Utkal Divas, on Thursday following Covid protocols. Since the special relief commissioner (SRC) has restricted large gatherings and cultural programmes, the celebrations will be a low-key affair. The SRC has put a cap on crowd (maximum 200 attendees) in Utkal Divas events with strict adherence to Covid guidelines like social distancing, mandatory wearing of masks, sanitisation and thermal checking. p Speaker tries to pacify members in assembly br /p BHUBANESWAR: Normalcy failed to return to the assembly even as speaker Surya Narayan Patro chaired two all-party meetings to end the deadlock that has been continuing for the last four days. Members of the treasury and opposition benches continued to protest as soon as the House assembled at 10:30 am, forcing the speaker to adjourn it till 11:30 and later till noon and then till 4 pm. While members of the treasury bench protested in the well of the House, demanding an apology from BJP MLA Subash Chandra Panigrahi for attempting suicide inside the assembly, the opposition BJP and Congress raised issues related to paddy procurement. As chaos continued, no business was conducted yet again.
