The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Thursday received information about an incident of drowning of fishing boats and missing fishermen off Gir-Somnath coast of Saurashtra region of Gujarat owing to unfavourable strong winds and turbulent seas. KOCHI: The weather department has sounded a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall of more than 20 cm for the southern districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathnamthitta on Friday. Lakshadweep islands are also on red alert on Thursday and Friday.
The warning also included an orange alert of very heavy rainfall of 11- 20 cm for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulum and Idukki.
