Mumbai: 84-year-old Catholic priest Father Stan Swamy, arrested for his alleged role in the Bhima Koregaon case and who has been incarcerated in the Taloja prison for the last 8 months, on Friday sought the Bombay High Court bench of Justices Shahrukh Kathawalla and Surendra Tawade to grant him interim bail, and told them that he would rather “prefer to suffer and die in Taloja prison than being admitted to any hospital.” ....

The Bombay High Court bench of Justices Shahrukh Kathawalla and Surendra Tawade on Friday ordered the Maharashtra government and the secretary to the state Governor Bhagatsingh Koshyari to file an affidavit spelling out as to by when would the proposal of the state s council of ministers to nominate 12 members to the state legislative council, would be decided. The HC said the Governor will have to decide the proposal either way.
He (Governor) will have to decide the recommendation either way. He will either have to accept it or reject. But he cannot keep it in his drawer to never see the light of the day, Justice Kathawalla remarked while posting the matter for hearing on June 9. ....

After sitting for over 12 hours, hearing matters virtually, the Bombay High Court bench of Justices Shahrukh Kathawalla and Surendra Tawade took up for hearing the Maharashtra government’s plea seeking to quash certain parts of the CBI’s FIR against former home minister Anil Deshmukh, late on Wednesday night.
The HC was informed by senior counsel Rafique Dada for the State that the CBI was only asked to probe the alleged corruption case but it was now demanding documents pertaining to the state’s probe against Rashmi Shukla in the phone-tapping case. “They want to pounce on these documents now. They cannot demand these documents as we are already investigating the case. This would only create confusion in the enquiry,” Dada told the bench. ....
