While BJP won an impressive tally of 14 seats despite internal contradictions in the party, some of its stalwarts including Bardoli MP Prabhu Vsava were defeated in the recent elections to the Surat District Co-operative Bank (SDCB] reports Indian Express. Results on three seats ended in a tie and later chits were drawn as a tie-breaker. Most of the seats saw a contest between BJP-supported candidates and the party’s rebel candidates. The five seats like SDCB employees’ seat, Choryasi, Valod, Bardoli, and Olpad – were won by BJP candidates without elections.
