The Umno supreme council member said all lawmakers from his party must write a letter to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker, or else be branded as “treasonous” against the King.
He said this must be done as it was uncertain whether the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister submitted by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will indeed be tabled on Monday (Aug 2).
“The Umno president has ordered party MPs to express their stance, which is to withdraw support for the Prime Minister.
“It is thus urged that all Umno MPs write a letter to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker, stating their stance that they no longer support the Prime Minister.

PETALING JAYA: Umno must proceed with its party elections even if the general election is not held this year, says Umno supreme council member Datuk Jalaluddin Alias.
The Jelebu MP said that he would raise the matter in the upcoming Umno supreme council meeting scheduled on Saturday (April 25). The proposal needs to be scrutinised and finalised by Umno as the party requires a new mandate from members to strengthen our chances to win in the next general election, he said when contacted Wednesday (April 21).
Jalaluddin said this after considering the input from the grassroots and other Umno leaders.
