The grant money comes from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and is funded through the Local CURE Economic Support Payments Grant Program.
“This grant is coming through at a very critical time for our small businesses,” Ezard said.
The Jacksonville Area Chamber of Commerce and Jacksonville Regional Economic Development Corp. collaborated with city leaders to launch and publicize the small business assistance program.

Monmouth has $188,000 in small business aid available

MONMOUTH The city of Monmouth will disperse $188,000 in state grant funds to small businesses for costs incurred to enhance public health and safety amid the coronavirus pandemic.
City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher said financial assistance of up to $10,000 per grant will be available to small businesses through the Local CURE Economic Support Payments Grant Program.
The grant will reimburse businesses for costs associated with improvement of ventilation systems and with outdoor dining service. 
Those small businesses that did not receive forgivable loans from the federal Paycheck Protection Program may also be eligible to use the grants for some operating expenses, Steinbrecher said.  ....

The City of Jacksonville announced today, specific businesses located within the city may be eligible for direct financial assistance of up to $10,000.
Struggling small businesses in Jacksonville can tap into nearly $400,000 in direct financial support that is now available. However, business owners need to act quickly as applications need to be turned in by next Monday.
Economic support payments for qualified brick-and-mortar businesses are being made possible by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The City of Jacksonville will provide the payments directly, which are funded through the Local CURE Economic Support Payments Grant Program. ....

Pandemic-affected Jacksonville businesses can apply for assistance through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Local CURE Economic Support Payments Grant program.
The program will provide grants of up to $10,000. Eligible businesses are restaurants and bars and indoor recreation- or event-related businesses that experienced at least a 25% decrease in revenue from March 1 to Dec. 30. Businesses must be able to prove revenue loss.
The grant can be used for such things as payroll, mortgage or rent, utilities or certain expenses related to making the business safe for employees and customers.
Applications for the grant are available through the city of Jacksonville website. Questions about the program can be directed to the city’s treasurer’s office at 217-479-3512 or [email protected]. ....

EDWARDSVILLE As discussed earlier this year, the city has been planning to refund fees it assesses for Class B, C and G2 liquor license holders for the 2020 calendar year that are still selling or serving alcohol as of Dec 15, the anticipated date of the related resolution’s passage.
The finance committee discussed and voted in favor of the resolution at its Tuesday meeting. Finance Director Jeanne Wojcieszak said the total amount refunded is $40,000. The exception is any such establishment found liable for city ordinance violations in 2020. ....
