going to mark one year since the russian invasion began and zelenskyy has made it clear his goal is nothing short of victory on the battlefield. where do you see this going? what does ukraine need now to win this fight? let me do a little self-promotion. i wrote an article on this very issue for the wall street journal about a month ago. i think what needs to happen during the winter time is that nato and ukraine need to re-set, they need to resupply, they need to retrain, they need to get everything they need for the spring offenses. on the other hand, they need to continue to fire himars and long range artillery at the ammunition dumps, the supply convoys, the supply dumps to prevent the russians themselves from resupplying with both material and men. so i think if the spring comes and ukrainians are stronger and the russians are far weaker,
these strikes are coming from the caspian sea, we re coming to find out. the air force is reportingiles d from the air. they can t trust the fact they won t be shot down now. but they re going to go after infrastructure, critical infrastructure for a couple of reasons. they want to put the lights out on the ukraine citizens that are there and show the ukraine citizens that they can do this. they have this capability. pure terror. those aren t military targets. we spoke to moonfish, ukrainian air force pilot and he said the russians control this air space and the areas where russian forces are now operating. but ukrainians control, he says, everywhere else, by and large. yeah. what does that mean going forward in terms of this russian promise from the russian minister of defense to strike the supply convoys coming in from poland and other nato nations, bringing weaponry inside ukraine? two things, it means number one they have to use their guided weapons systems, cruise
and the u.s. official telling us they are concerned that russia will start attacking the supply routes across ukraine as the weapons come in through the polish border and are taken east to donbas. the worry is the russians will attack those supply routes. the first question is why haven t they done it already as far as we know, and we re told, you know, the russians don t have the best intelligence on it and these are mobile targets, truck convoys, moving railcars, not something that the russians are very good at targeting. but with this vast amount of new weaponry moving in, and now the fight for the donbas on, there is concern that the russians will move to try and hit these supply convoys to make the ukrainians less successful in being able to challenge the russians. this is going to be an armor and artillery fight out in the east to a very large extent. bianna? and the russians warned as much by sending that official letter to the u.s. last week.
sending are those being seen as effective and concerning? i think so. i think the fact that it has been effective. the weapons and the supplies have poured in from the west. look at this latest list of things we re going to provide. they are real differencemakers. the body armor, small arms, javelins, the drone technology and intel that it provides is invaluable to ukraine. so the unthinkable consequences. perhaps what russia hasn t done is attack those supply convoys as they ve crossed the border. that has me most concerned. you look at things we are going to bring in, armored personnel carriers, how does that cross the border? there s no hiding that. russian can see that from their technology and likely attack that very quickly in very far western ukraine. so perhaps that s what he does there. the issue, getting the lift capability to get that to poland and our allies there and then getting it across the border into ukraine s hands because
