Huntington Holds Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony with Girl Scouts in Huntington Station

Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci, Councilman Ed Smyth and Councilwoman Joan Cergol were joined by Covanta and Girl Scout Service Unit 12, Troop 239 for an Arbor Day tree planting ceremony and to unveil trees planted with Tree City USA grant funding at Columbia Street Park in Huntington Station. 
 
“Thank you to Covanta Huntington for your environmentally-conscious donation and to our Girl Scouts from Troop 239 for your commitment to Columbia Street Park and many of our green spaces,” stated Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “The Town of Huntington is fortunate to have maintained our Tree City USA designation for over 20 years and thanks to your contributions, grant funding from the New York State Urban Forestry Council, and our Volunteer Parks Stewards like Alvin White, we will continue to plant trees, beautify and preserve our open spaces.”  ....

Huntington Honors Foremost Woman Architect of the Early 20th Century, Suffragist Fay Kellogg

Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci and Town of Huntington officials were joined by members of the Greenlawn-Centerport Historical Association for the unveiling of an historical marker on April 6 honoring former resident Faye Kellogg, the foremost woman architect of the early twentieth century at the site of a residence and former post office she designed at 22 Boulevard Avenue in Greenlawn. 
 
“Fay Kellogg designed and built steel construction projects while simultaneously breaking glass ceilings,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “We are proud to pay homage to Fay Kellogg, a pioneer in the field of architecture from over a century ago, at the site of the residence and former post office she was commissioned to design in 1911.”  ....

Huntington Supervisor Lupinacci Announces Grant For Structural Analysis Of Peter Crippen House Approved By Preservation League

Halesite – Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci announced the Town of Huntington has been awarded a $4,000 Technical Assistance Grant for an engineering study of the Peter Crippen House, a structure significant to Huntington s Black History, from the Preservation League of New York State.

Lupinacci stated, We are thrilled to announce this significant development in our efforts to preserve Huntington s Black History, which is a priority to my administration, and we are grateful to the Preservation League of New York State for sharing our belief that the preservation of the Peter Crippen House, named for one of our first African American landowners in Huntington, is worthy of this investment. ....
