Foodservice demand for hot peppers picking up Hot pepper demand is slowly rebuilding as restaurants and other foodservice outlets begin reopening. “As of March, our numbers started getting better and climbing weekly,” says Ely Trujillo with Superior Growers LLC of Las Vegas, NV. “When we first started, the pandemic everything slowed down. There was an equal decrease in demand on all peppers across the board in foodservice. Retail kept going but retail numbers are not what they were in years past.” That said, with Cinco de Mayo around the corner, Trujillo anticipates a bump in business. “I do expect it to be better than last year at this time because last year at this time, everything was shut down,” he says. ....
