Headlines for Thursday, April 14th

The Cisne Village Board met Monday and approved a request from Sunrise Sanitation to change trash day from Thursday to Monday. Trash will be picked up today for this week and will be on Mondays starting next week. The board said the change is intended to prevent higher rates because of rising gas prices. The City of Fairfield will flush its water lines next week, beginning Monday and ending Friday. The Water Department says, while the lines are being flushed, residents may notice their water is discolored and may also experience a dip in water pressure. The department says discolored water during this process does not mean it is unsafe to drink, only that there is a temporary increase in iron concentration. However, during the flushing, the department does urge residents to check for water discoloration before doing laundry or similar activities. Headlines for Tuesday, January 25th

40-year-old Ray E. Tate has had his arraignment in Wayne County Circuit Court pushed back to February 3rd at 1 p.m. He had been scheduled to appear in court today by Zoom, and he notified his counsel he wishes to be present in person. His hearing is anticipated to last at least an hour in order to formally advise him on all 38 indictments against him, and the Circuit Clerk's Office says there is not enough time on today's docket to allow for the process. Because of a large number of Sunrise Sanitation workers with COVID-19, trash routes in Fairfield, Geff, and Albion have been changed this week. Fairfield residents whose trash is usually collected today will have it collected tomorrow, and normal Wednesday pickups will be on Thursday. In Geff, trash pickup is anticipated to be on Thursday instead of Wednesday, and Albion pickup will be on Friday this week. The City of Fairfield is proceeding with plans to construct a new water tower, per Mayor Mike Dreith. He says bids could
