Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shalla Police Station Nazmul Haque has been suspended while OC of Derai Police Station Ashraful Islam transferred for their negligence in duties during March 17 mayhem carried out by Hefajat-e Islam.
Superintendent of Police of Sunamganj Mizanur Rahman confirmed the development to The Daily Star this morning.
OC Nazmul has been attached to Barishal Police Range while OC Ashraful to Moulvibazar District Police.
On March 15, Hefajat unit of Derai upazila organised a rally where the organisation s Ameer Junayed Babunagari and Joint Secretary General Mamunul Haque spoke.

Officer-in-Charge of Shalla Police Station Nazmul Haque has been suspended while OC of Derai Police Station Ashraful Islam transferred for negligence in duty during Hefajat-e Islam s mayhem unleashed on Hindu houses in Noagaon village of Shalla upazila on March 17.
Superintendent of Police in Sunamganj Mizanur Rahman confirmed this to The Daily Star yesterday morning.
OC Nazmul has been attached to Barishal Police Range while OC Ashraful to Moulvibazar District Police.
The violence was carried out after Jhumon Das Apon, a youth from Noagaon village, allegedly uploaded a post on his Facebook profile criticising Hefajat leader Mamunul Haque on March 15.
