An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 18 minutes ago 79 km north of Sumqayit, Azerbaijan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 80 km beneath the epicenter near Sumqayit, Sumqayit City, Azerbaijan, in the evening on Thursday 28 January 2021 at 8:06 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
