Joe Biden has stressed the need for the world’s democracies to stand together as he arrived in the UK on his first overseas trip as US president.
Mr Biden will meet Boris Johnson in Cornwall on Thursday ahead of the G7 summit and is expected to deliver a warning not to let the Brexit trade dispute “imperil” the Northern Ireland peace process.
The president will also seek to show the United States is back as a major international diplomatic force following the Donald Trump years, using the visit to Europe to shore up transatlantic alliances.
Mr Biden flew in to the UK on Air Force One, landing at the US airbase at RAF Mildenhall before heading on to Cornwall for Thursday’s talks with Mr Johnson and the G7 summit in Carbis Bay. ....
